The seminar will analyze comedies and scenarios written, published or performed between the beginning of the sixteenth century and the second half of the seventeenth century. These plays exemplify the elaborations that the genre of comedy underwent during the sixteenth century and the shift in emphasis from the written text to the actor’s performative act in the Commedia dell’Arte between the second half of the sixteenth and the seventeenth century.  In Italian
