Jilian A. Pizzi

Jilian Pizzi is a Core Lecturer in Literature Humanities at Columbia University, where she also received her PhD in Italian and Comparative Literature in 2026. Her research focuses on medieval Judeo-Christian relations in the 12th and 13th centuries and she is currently working on a book project based on her dissertation, Jews and Judaism in the Commedia, which analyzes the presentation of Jews and Judaism in Dante's poem within the historical context of the relationship between Christians and Jews from antiquity through the Middle Ages and in particular in light of rising medieval anti-Judaism. She is an assistant editor of Digital Dante and has also taught Italian language courses at Columbia University (Elementary and Intermediate levels).
