Louis J. Moffa Jr

Louis Moffa is a Core Lecturer in Literature Humanities at Columbia University, where he also received his PhD in Italian and Comparative Literature in 2025. His research focuses on astronomy and cosmology in the late 13th and early 14th centuries in vernacular poetic and literary contexts. Louis is currently working on a book project based on his PhD dissertation (Dante, Poet of the Stars) in which he investigates the transfer of popular scientific knowledge into vernacular Italian from the Sicilian School through to Dante's Paradiso. Louis is an assistant editor of Digital Dante and a tour guide at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the New York Medieval Society.
