Anna Borgarello

Anna Borgarello is a Core Lecturer in Literature Humanities at Columbia University, where she also received her PhD in Italian and Comparative Literature in 2024. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century Italian, French, and English literatures from a transnational perspective, with a particular emphasis on life writing, self/other relationships, and relationality. She is currently working on a book project based on her PhD thesis, "Bifocal Narratives: The Self and the Other in Contemporary Italian, French, British, and North American Literature.” This project investigates a growing body of contemporary works that avoid a clear-cut auto/biographical division and take shape around the relationship between two foci: an autobiographical or autofictional narrator and a biographical or biofictional other. Her academic writing has been published or is forthcoming in ItalianisticaAllegoriaContemporary Literature, and The Italianist.
