Alessandra Roncato

Alessandra Roncato is a PhD student in the Department of Italian at Columbia University. She received her BA and MA in Modern Humanities from the Università degli Studi di Milano and an MA in Italian Studies from Florida State University. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she taught in Italian secondary schools and served as a Graduate Instructor of Italian at Florida State University. In Summer 2026, she also taught Italian language and culture at the FSU Florence Study Center.

Her research interests include modern Italian literature and culture, gender and women’s studies, and the circulation of Italian literature across Francophone and Hispanic traditions. She has translated poetry by Franco Arminio and Teodora Mastrototaro for Delos: A Journal of Translation and World Literature, as well as poetry by Alba Roballo for the forthcoming anthology Strange Flowers, Hidden Country: 55 Uruguayan Women Poets.
