Enrico Messina performed Orlando

On September 30 and October 1, Enrico Messina performed Orlando: furiosamente solo rotolando in the Teatro of the Italian Academy. This was the international debut of a work inspired by Ludovico AriostoOrlando Furioso that the Pugliese actor/narrator/writer/director has performed over 500 times throughout Italy since its inception in 2006. The evening began with the performance of passages from BoiardoOrlando Innamorato by Victoria Giler, Katrina Goldowsky-Dill, and Stephen Chacon, former students from Acting Medieval Literature,” taught by Prof. Evelyn Birge Vitz, New York University. The event was co-sponsored by the Regione Puglia; Teatro Pubblico Pugliese; Unione Europea; Fondo per lo Sviluppo e la Coesione; ARMAMAXA teatro, Foggia (FG) / Ceglie Messapica (BR); the Department of Italian, Columbia University; the Department of French, New York University; and The Italian Academy for Advanced Studies, Columbia University.
